Webster defines accreditation as “to give trust or confidence to: to vouch for; to recommend; to furnish with credentials, as an envoy or ambassador”
According to ISO17011:2004 Accreditation means: Third–party attestation related to a conformity assessment body conveying formal demonstration of its competence to carry out specific assessment tasks.

Is Your Certificate Accredited?
A certificate issued by an ANAB-accredited CB that includes the ANAB accreditation symbol is an accredited certificate. An accredited certificate includes the CB's symbol and the accreditation symbol of the accrediting body. Be sure to look for both. Accreditation is the means by which an authoritative body (ANAB) gives formal recognition that an organization (the CB) is competent to carry out specific tasks.

How to become Accredited
The Canadian International Accreditation Services (C-IAS) accepts applications for accreditation from “Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) and Further Education & Training Institutions (FETI)” (referred as an “Applicant”) around the world.
